Best keto-friendly pasta options

So, you’re about a few months into your keto-diet. You’re at the point where you are considering making this a full lifestyle change, but you’re thinking about all the foods you are going to miss. One of the foods that flashes across your mind is pasta.

Everyone who has had pasta can probably say they love it. It’s tasty, typically easy to prepare, and pretty customizable. Pasta is one of those foods that, if you're having a really hectic day and need something quick to cook, is a go-to dish.

Well, you don’t have to run your diet just to indulge in some delicious pasta. There are many keto-friendly options available.

H2: What is keto pasta made from?

Keto, low-carb pasta, can be made from a variety of ingredients, including vegetables like squash, kelp and zucchini. If you want a texture that’s even closer to the pasta you’re used to, you can use low-carb flours or pasta mixes

Which pasta is keto friendly?

Here is a list of keto-friendly noodles you can try!

  1. Kelp Noodles - Kelp noodles are sometimes called seaweed noodles. They are made from brown kelp and water and contain calcium, iodine and iron. There are two types of kelp noodles - clear and green. The clear noodles are crispy and not so flavourful, but the green ones have a seaweed flavour and are chewy and firm.

  2. Eggplant Noodles - This is another vegetable option. Eggplants are great for lasagne and casseroles, and develop a chewy texture when baked. Jazz up your recipe with some keto-friendly cheeses like goat cheese, cream cheese and Parmesan, and you will have a meal that tastes like you’re sitting right in Italy!

  3. Low Carb Flour Noodles - This may be my favourite of all the keto-friendly pasta options. Simply because they are the closest option to the typical wheat flour pastas we are used to. Simply use your keto-friendly cheeses and sauces!

You can even make these noodles from scratch and flavour it to your personal liking! (Check out our recipe)

There are so many great keto-friendly pasta recipes that you can try. Today I’m recommending two of my personal favourites. Simple Ricotta Gnocchi and my Farm Girl Low Carb Spaghetti With Lonza And Pecorino

For the Ricotta Gnocchi pasta, you only need 4 simple ingredients. Our Noodle flour, Ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and an egg, that’s it! This simple pasta recipe is great if you’re just trying out homemade pasta and don’t have a pasta roller. Check out the full recipe here!

The Low Carb Spaghetti with Lonza and Pecorino only requires 8 ingredients, but the method is also fairly simple. Great for an evening when you want a quick dinner, but also want to make it a little more fancy. Our recipe can be viewed here

And that’s the great thing about pasta. When all the flavours come together and grace your palate, it’s hard to imagine how easy it all was. These dishes really show that keto is not equal to boring!
